3rd Annual Sankofa Lecture in Honour of Black History Month, taking place on February 12, 2026 from 2:00–4:00 p.m., with a cocktail reception featuring small bites from Afro-Caribbean restaurant, K&S Grill. Tickets are $35 for all attendees, with the exception of law students and articling students, for whom a reduced rate applies.
Sankofa Lecture Event details
This year’s Sankofa Lecture is proudly hosted by Robson Hall and CABL and will feature a keynote address by the Honourable Justice Chidinma B. Thompson. Justice Thompson is the first internationally trained lawyer and the second Black woman to have been appointed to the bench in Alberta; she is also first the person to graduate from the University of Calgary with a PhD in Law. Please join us in welcoming her to Winnipeg!
