Egbe Omo Yoruba Manitoba
We are a non-profit organization, established in 2011 to promote cultural awareness, friendship and cooperation between the people of Yorùbá descent and other multi-ethnic groups in Manitoba and Canada. Our goal is to organize programs and services aimed at fostering socio- cultural, educational and economic development partnerships between the Yorùbá community members and the community at large.
We hold four quarterly general meetings of the association from January to December each year, at 479 St Mary Road, Winnipeg
Yoruba Fest
Yoruba Fest is an annual celebration of Yoruba heritage and culture through visual art, photography, performance art, dance, music and story-telling.
Folkorama
This is an annual multicultural event in Winnipeg where all the ethnic nationalities are provided a platform to showcase culture, food, artwork etc from their “home” country; the event is for two weeks in the month of August. Egbe Omo Yoruba performs under the banner of Afro-Caribbean and Africa pavilion.
Annual end of the year celebration party
This is an event to round up the year, to celebrate and get together. It is also used to honor those who have volunteered for the association throughout the year. We try to make it fun and interactive for all ages by incorporating games, Santa visit and gifts to create a sense of belonging and community.
Other programs
We visit schools and display our culture during Cultural Day and Black History month. It has been our privilege to represent Egbe Omo Yoruba at other affiliated associations celebrations. The association is ready and willing to celebrate families through all their personal achievements and to walk alongside those who are going through troubled times.
