The Ghanaian Union of Manitoba Inc. (GUM) is a non-profit organisation that brings together Ghanaians residing in Manitoba. GUM, through its activities and programs, seeks the welfare of its members, and promotes Ghana’s culture in Manitoba and Canada. GUM is also dedicated to protecting and advancing the social, cultural, political, and economic interests of Ghanaians living in Manitoba.

The objectives of GUM include: 

1. Organize monthly meetings to share ideas and discuss important issues that affect Ghanaians in Manitoba;
2. Educate and inform Ghanaians on issues of national and provincial importance such as law and order;
3. Celebrate events and activities of Ghanaian and Canadian interests such as Canada Day and Ghana’s Independence Day;
4. Educate children, youth, and people of Ghanaian heritage about Ghana’s culture and heritage;
5. Advocate for Ghanaians on issues relating to their welfare; and

6. Provide education and sensitization on social barriers such as race
